WEDDING: Deanna & Nicholas’s Fabulous Wedding Adventure

Deanna & Nicholas’s Fabulous Wedding Adventure

captured by Macy Carter Photography

Thank you to Deanna & Nicholas and their photographer, Macy Carter of Macy Carter Photography (website at and IG handle @wanderingambition) — for sharing this beautiful day with us! Deanna and Nicholas were married May 4, 2018 at Schwabacher’s Landing in Grand Teton National Park near Jackson. “We were going to get married at Mormon Barn, but Schwabacher’s Landing was a last minute change, and totally worth it,” Deanna says. “The first time I went to Grand Teton National Park was with my family in 2013 and I immediately fell in love with it. I was determined to get Nicholas there and for him to enjoy it as much as I did!”

I’ll let Deanna tell you about the adventure that was their big day …

“In 2016 we graduated college with our bachelor’s degrees and decided to treat ourselves. So as a graduation gift we designed a national park oriented road trip.

We drove for three months, over 15,000 miles and visited 23 National Parks and hiked over 67 miles. Wyoming was our number one most memorable state. The landscape, wildlife, and untamed magic in the air made us want to go back. So on June 6th, 2017 Nicholas proposed to me in Havana, Cuba and my first vision for the wedding was with the Teton mountains behind us.

Starting on April 19, 2018 we drove from FL to WY in our tiny 2017 Chevy Cruze with my brother in the back seat and everything needed for us to relive our last journey. On May 4th we were joined by my mom, dad, brother, uncle, aunt and cousin. The officiant was a childhood friend of my mother’s and his wife came too. The photographer, Macy, and her now fiance, were there as well.”

Deanna and Nicholas were married at 5 pm, just before the sun set. Deanna steals my heart as a DIY bride, making all of their boutonnieres, bouquets and invitations. The couple also added a special, unique touch to their unity ceremony. “Our unity ceremony was our vows in a wooden box that contains a bottle of wine which we will drink on our one year and reread our vows and then replace the wine,” Deanna explains. “The box has our name and the date of our wedding engraved in it.” (LOVE! And have I said yet how much I LOVE Deanna’s dress?!)

The couple resides in Seattle now, and we wish them the very best for a life full of love and continued adventure… Thanks to Deanna, Nicholas and Macy for sharing these beautiful images with us!

Alex & Chelsea’s Lusk Wedding by the Creek

Thank you to Lacey Dale Photography of Lusk, Wyoming for sharing Chelsea & Alex’s day with us! A few details …

Chelsea wore a pleated, strapless, empire waist gown from David’s Bridal — with POCKETS!! SOO COOL! Her shoes were a pair of navy blue Converse Chuck Taylors. Earrings were something borrowed from one of her bridesmaids, and she also wore a bracelet from Alex’s grandmother who passed away. Her sash on her dress was handmade by Alex’s sister Kari Dickson. Alex wore a pair of grey Carhartt pants, a white shirt and pink tie. The location was north of Lusk, Wyoming, on Gravel Pit Road. Donna Ruffing, from Lusk owns a ranch and the couple got married on a creek bottom with a grassy meadow, sandstone wall background and surrounded by cottonwood trees. Alex used to live there, and still likes to go elk hunting on the ranch. Chelsea’s mother walked her down the aisle, with the service performed by Joel Richardson. The reception was held at the well-known Pizza Place in Lusk, owned & operated by Brad and Melissa Wagner — the couple had their first date there, and it’s where Alex proposed to Chelsea.

Thank you to Janelle Rose Photography of Cheyenne for graciously providing us with these beautiful images from Meggan & Nate’s June 6, 2015 wedding, the first wedding to be held at the new University of Wyoming, Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center.  This facility is a beautiful place to hold your wedding, special event, or simply stroll through and enjoy. This beautiful couple has the support of many friends and family members – guests included Governor Mead and First Lady Carol Mead, and the couple’s family presence, on both sides, is strongly felt throughout Janelle’s images. Meggan’s maiden name is Hathaway (many Wyomingites recognize that name!), and Nate’s father is a long time member of the Wyoming legislature. Personally, I adore Nate’s mother, Karen Nicholas, who was my second grade teacher (and first teacher I had after moving from a two room, rural Wyoming schoolhouse to Laramie public schools in 1986. Nate’s sister Kim is an OB/GYN and I enjoy working with her every week when I scan the future of Laramie’s citizens. I love how small Wyoming can be sometimes!

But I digress … and I haven’t even touched the topic of the bridesmaids’ shoes yet! (J’adore!) I recall Kim sharing with me the work Meggan & Nate put into finding their perfect wedding location, and we discussed just how beautiful the UW Gateway Center would be for their event. I personally think it was a home run — the warm lighting & graceful ambiance, with a powerful hint of Wyomingesque flair fit for families with strong and long-term ties to the Cowboy State … a romantic and touching way to celebrate the joining of two lives and families.

Congratulations to Meggan and Nate, and may your lives continue to be full of beauty, light and love!

WEDDING SPOTLIGHT: Kali & Kord’s 4th of July Wedding

Thanks to Charity & Ricky  for sharing Kali & Kord’s beautiful 4th of July wedding in Cheyenne! Kali is a bride after my own <3, with LOTS of DIY elements in the flowers & American-inspired decor! The Big Day was held at Kali’s parents’ home, and a friend provided the cake & food. LOVE it – what a great way to celebrate a beautiful story…

I have to also share Kali’s story of Kord’s proposal… See if it gives you the response I had…

“We actually met at Kord’s brother Brandon’s wedding. Brandon married my best friend Sara, I was a bridesmaid and Kord was the best man. Kord’s proposal was soo funny! He had planned a romantic date at the Melting Pot, and as we were getting seated the host said, “So I hear we are here to celebrate an engagement!!!” Kord was furious because his surprise was ruined. I simply replied, “Well we are now!!” Both of us cracked up laughing. It ended up working out, because it took the stress of Kord and it was hilarious because nothing is very serious with us.”

(And for those who will appreciate this last part, as I did … the Melting Pot did make up for the mistake by paying for their meal that night and giving the couple a healthy gift card…)

Check out these lovely details, patriotic decor & emotional images captured by Charity & Ricky
