Thanks to Jessica for sending her & John’s story!  This is a sweet story (serious tears here!) with even sweeter pictures — (and check out that ring!!!) Wow!

My fiancé’s name is John Entel, 26. He was born and raised in Lovell, Wyoming and graduated high school in 2004. He has been working in the oilfield for the past 7 years for J&R Well Service as a Driller. He has a son named Andrew, who is 15 months as of April 3rd, who was from a previous relationship but John has primary custody of him and raises him as a single dad.

I’m Jessica Yates, 20 (till April 6th) and was born and raised in Casper, Wyoming and Graduated from NCHS in 2009. I am currently working on my Child Day Care certification plus working on my Bachelors in Early Childhood Education. I was working at a day care in Casper up until November of last year as a preschool teacher. I have a son, Jeremiah, who will be 3 months on March 25th.

John and I met in September of last year on a dating website when I was 6 months pregnant. My son’s biological father was never involved in my pregnancy, nor my son’s life, making me a single mom. John saw past the fact that I was pregnant and got to know me for me. It truly was an instant connection. My grandma always told me, “You will know when you meet the one,” and man, was she right! He is truly my soul mate, my one true love and best friend.

My son was born in December and at the beginning of February, I made the move up to Lovell and became a stay at home mom to both Andrew and Jeremiah. On February 18th, after a day trip to Billings, Montana, John proposed. After putting the boys to bed, I stepped outside for a minute. As I was heading back in, I noticed John had turned off the lights in the house, which I thought was odd considering we had company coming over at any moment. I came inside to find candles lit everywhere and John opening a bottle of champagne. I asked him what is going on and he said, “We have something to celebrate, I hope.” A little confused at that point, John came up to me, got down on one knee with a box open which had a ring inside and I instantly burst into tears.

I can’t remember exactly what he said, I was a bawling mess, but I do remember him saying, “Will you and Jeremiah marry Andrew and I?” I couldn’t quit saying yes. I must have said it 100 times! Just recently John adopted my son Jeremiah, next is our wedding, joining us all together as a family.

We have since began the tedious yet rewarding project of wedding planning. We are getting married on September 28th of this year, our one year anniversary. We are planning an evening wedding at the church where I grew up in located in Casper. Because John proposed by candlelight, we have decided to get married by candlelight. John and I are making some stove pipe candles together which are about 3 ft tall but the church will be covered with white candles, red roses and low lights. A reception will follow but we are still researching places together.

We both are planning our wedding together because we wanted it to be exactly what we both want.  Because our wedding is in my home town and we live 4 hours north, it can be a little difficult. We are probably going to have the reception in a hotel where out of town guests can stay. We have a guest list of 120-150 people with a wedding party of 3 each.

I have never been so blessed or happy in my life. Like John and I say to each other, he is my rock to lean on and foundation and I am his glue who holds him and our family together. I have never been so in love. I always thought love existed in fairytales till now. I’m living my fairytale and I have found my Prince Charming!

I LOVE this story! Love love love… CONGRATULATIONS you guys, and many wishes for MUCH love and happiness in the years to come. What a sweet and lucky family!

We’re so excited to be working with {k} photography in Thermopolis! Kristen is such a sweetheart (and SUPER patient with me), :) and just does tremendous work. Check out Jessi & John’s story (the first of TWO John & Jessi/Jessica stories we’ll be sharing this week!) and their beautiful images…love, love, love…

Jessi Jane Fieldgrove and John Henry Franzen met on the night of September 27, 2008 in Sheridan, WY. John was attending the University of Wyoming at the time, while Jessi was out of college and teaching preschool in Sheridan. He was in Sheridan that night for the college rodeo. John and his friends were downtown that evening at a local bar when Jessi walked through the front doors with all of her friends and John was the only one standing there right in the middle of the pathway. When they locked eyes all he said was “Wow”, and from there he followed her around town the rest of the night, with the clanking of his spurs the only thing you could hear. It took a couple hours before she thought she should say something to the guy who has been following her and, to her surprise, they hit it off right away. They talked every day for the next couple of weeks and soon after, started dating.

Though the happy couple didn’t know each other prior to that evening they found out later that they had played together as toddlers when their moms would visit each other. The groom’s mother and the bride’s mother were very good friends from high school. In fact, John’s mom arranged the first date of Jessi’s parents when they were only 16 years old. They all lived in Gillette, WY running within the same group of friends and graduating from Gillette High School together. The couple’s dads also attended the same college which, needless to say, made the first ‘meeting of the parents’ a step they could skip all together!

Jessi and John have dated for three years going on four. When John proposed on New Year’s Day, they were on vacation in the Cayman Islands with another couple. John and Jessi went to dinner that night and it couldn’t have been a more perfect set up. With the sun going down right next to the ocean and just finishing up a candle-lit dinner, John asked Jessi if she would be his wife and the future Mrs. John Franzen. Shocked and choking down the tears, Jessi of course said yes and they spent the rest of the week long vacation as a newly engaged couple.

The couple resides in Riverton, WY. John is a professional steer wrestler and also works for his parents, Hank and Lori Franzen who own Powder River Rodeo Company. Jessi is the owner and designer of Outhouse Jewels and also works for his family’s business as a timer and secretary. Her parents are Rusty and Mary Jane Fieldgrove. They will have an outdoor, country wedding at their residence on September 22, 2012, only 5 days before the day they met four years ago.

I LOVE this story!!! It goes down in the annals of my favorite engagement stories… :) Congrats you two – and John, I hope that she’ll hear the clanking of your spurs following her until you’re very, very old… Thanks to {k} photography in Thermopolis for sharing this beautiful story and fantastic images!

Whenever I hear someone say “I LOVE gold!” I can’t help but think of  Goldmember from Austin Powers:) OK, that was off-topic — but gold can be a snazzy color for your wedding! Check out these inspiration images below — whether you call it gold, or champagne, the antique feel creates both a sophisticated and ethereal quality. Beautiful for outdoor weddings (lets the natural colors really shine!) but also equally lovely for indoor weddings and receptions with lots of warm light (think candlelight and white Christmas lights!)  Check out the images below for more inspiration…

What colors do you pair with antique gold? White & cream are natural choices…the gold plays beautifully with a rich cream color. Flowers in whites & creams are easy to find and can be a gorgeous choice. The green in the flower stems make a natural compliment. You can also include a rich purple, navy, or perhaps a touch of blush pink or light blue for a sweet feel. Gold is a rich neutral, so beware of the overall feel you’re going for! Do you want warm and elegant, something that embraces a heavy color palette? Purples and navies might be just right. Something sweet and flirty? Blush pink or light blue might be a great choice. And of course, my go-to favorite favorite favorite…chocolate brown! Mmmm…

Thanks to Ardent Photography in Laramie for providing this week’s wedding spotlight!  Kelley & Matt were married January 21, 2012 at the Nagle Warren Mansion (for the ceremony) and the Community House in Cheyenne (for the reception).

Check out these tidbits from the wedding from Ardent:  “Awesome to know: He hand made her ring, like even casted the silver after making the wax mold and everything! They had the most darling hot cocoa favors oh and did you see her vintage shoes? To die for… He had a bridesman on his side, they had a very emotional and touching ceremony. The sister of the bride created all the floral arrangements too!”

Have you seen bhp imaging’s work yet? If you haven’t, be sure to check them out — photographer Brian Harrington is a true artist.  Here’s Brian’s story — and be sure to check out the selection from his work below, visit his website & Facebook page…as well as his video on our website!

So to start at the beginning of Brian’s camera wielding journey…
He was one of those art kids in high school… the type that took every art class they could. “I was never much of an artist when it came the technical’s of drawing, painting, sculpting, etc… but my mind always worked that way,” Brian says. “There was an obvious block somewhere within me that was stopping these ideas from coming to fruition. I would go out and explore in the broken and abandoned buildings, like most photographers do when they start snapping away, in my free time. There was a lot of the artistic process involved in the image making at that point subconsciously… but nothing concrete or intentional.”

When his high school art teacher recommended Brian submit a few images to the Wyoming High School Art Symposium, Brian did well, winning a few ribbons. The next year, he won blue ribbons on almost every image submitted as well as one of six awarded scholarships in Wyoming. “I was hooked,” Brian says.

Fast forward to college…  Brian began with a career of photojournalism in mind.  “Something about the honesty of the moments you seek as a photojournalist intrigued me,” Brian says. “I think a lot of the love of moments is still prevalent in my images.”  Brian did well in school and won a few impressive awards, such as the June 2009 Student of the Month for the Student Photographic Society, a national subcategory of the Professional Photographers of America. He was also presented the Photography Student of the Year Award from his college. After an additional year of business school, Brian launched into work as a professional photographer.

“I spent a summer sitting on a raft in Jackson, Wyoming.  I left that experience with a passion to do nothing but smile and enjoy life (far from the stress of Wedding Photography),” Brian says. “Everything, in my opinion, that is worth knowing in life can be learned from a river. I like to think the wind that constantly beat me in the face floating down that river, and tangled my fly-line that summer, also blew me to Laramie…”

Brian fell in love with Laramie as soon as he pulled into town. “I had no idea this is where I would be starting the business that had been slowing forming in the back of my head, bhpimaging…. brian harrington photographic imaging,” Brian says.  “{The name is} simply because I think of the images as more than simple photographs… they are moments brushed with artistic expression and passion.”  Brian officially started his business July 1st, 2011, but has been shooting as a professional since 2009. On November 28th 2011, Brian became one of five Certified Professional Photographers in Wyoming.

For Brian, inspiration is found in a million different places. “I love looking at other photographers work,” Brian says. “To name a few… Richard Avedon’s stark portraits of normal people make me want to create more storytelling images in a simple and understandable way. Julius Shulman has the most beautiful eye for capturing graphic shapes with the surrounding environment…”  He adds, “I see graphically, so this work speaks volumes. Color work from the greats like Bobbi Lane and Jay Maisel also speak to me.”  Brian is also inspired by music and other art.
“I like to approach a wedding with all the aspects of my background present,” Brian says. “I am constantly watching for beautiful moments while also taking time to pose and light the perfect shots. It is not enough to just have beautiful moments or beautiful light and posing… sometimes as professionals we have to be able to deliver both.”

Brian not only enjoys creating artistic images, he enjoys getting to know his clients.  “I love meeting new couples,” Brian says. “They are always so obviously in love when I get to meet them that it is beautiful. They are so happy to be alive and be together. I like to work with their ideas and desires as well as my own background to come up with the perfect images and albums for their wedding story.”

For Brian, being a professional photographer is a dream come true.  “It is a beautiful life I live,” he says.

Make stickers from your photos (for thank you notes, an image of your getaway transportation of choice with ‘Just Married’ in the image might be super adorable!), OR do like our buddy Brian Harrington of bhp imaging did and make some super fun stickers that incorporate your initials…here’s an example that our friends Snake River Brewing in Jackson made…
