Thanks to Ardent Photography of Laramie for sharing this beautiful wedding with us… Here’s what Stephanie had to say about Emily & Brien’s touching Laramie wedding…

Emily and Brien are some of our very good friends. When they were choosing their wedding photographers we urged them not to go with Ardent just because we were friends, but to make sure they looked at a LOT of wedding photography and hire photographers whose work stopped them in their tracks. Deep down inside though Rick and I were crossing our fingers that this awesome couple would soon be Ardent clients. These two are fun, easy going, great friends and above all amazing Christians. They chose to have their ceremony at the gorgeous Laramie Valley Chapel. Instead of a first look, Emily chose not to “see” Brien, but instead pray with him before they walked down the aisle. They stood back to back, while throughout the room tears were flowing (and not just from the happy couple, lol). What started off as a very serious and emotional ceremony ended with the happy couple dancing down the aisle. The dancing shenanigans continued throughout the night as they moved on to their reception at the University of Wyoming Ballroom. We can honestly say this was one of the best receptions we have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. From Emily trying to assault Brien with wedding cake to their surprise first dance montage, their day was filled with unique memories and it was our pleasure to capture them on film. Many people helped with their big day including:

CEREMONY: Laramie Valley Chapel

RECEPTION: University of Wyoming Ballroom

PHOTOGRAPHY: Ardent Photography

CAKES: Cakes by Gretchen

CATERING: Altitude

FLOWERS: Poppy’s

WEDDING SPOTLIGHT: Megan & Sam

Thanks to Ardent Photography in Laramie for sending us this gorgeous, AMAZING idea-filled wedding! Megan & Sam had a beautiful September 2012 wedding day full of personal touches. Read on for more information — and there were so many awesome shots, we had a hard time narrowing it down…

Here are the stats for the wedding — this is a great way to share this kind of information:

Ceremony Site: Curt Gowdy Ampitheatre, Curt Gowdy State Park, between Cheyenne & Laramie in SE WY

Reception Site: Hilton Garden Inn, Laramie

Floral: Poppy’s, Laramie
Photography: Ardent Photography, Laramie
Hair: Studio 220, Laramie
Makeup: Cassandra Garza, Laramie

Megan and Sam’s wedding was so thoughtful, from the intricate details to the care they put into planning their day to be so unique! This couple surprised each other with gifts before the wedding. Sam bought Megan a lovely necklace which was delivered to her in a handmade wooden box. Megan HOWEVER chose to surprise Sam with a MOTORCYCLE that he had his eye on for some time. She had it hidden at Hynds Lodge where he was getting ready and wrapped the key in the box presented to him as a gift. After that we had their first look which consisted of the couple concealed until first site by bunches of balloons adorned in their wedding colors. When the time was right they released their balloons and saw each other for the first time. Megan and Sam chose to say their vows privately to one another before their ceremony. This was such an emotional, heart felt and very touching moment. This couple chose to have their guests sign vintage skis in leau of a guestbook, which was a cute idea we have not seen. This entire wedding was well thought out, planned to perfection and just really screamed Megan and Sam.

Absolutely beautiful!!! Thank you to Ardent Photography for sharing this wedding, and Megan & Sam — my hat’s off to you for one personal wedding! Congratulations, and what a beautiful way to begin your life together as Husband & Wife. Many best wishes to you!

If you’d like to see your wedding or engagement spotlight on our blog, it’s super easy — email us at brides@wyomingweddingsonline.com and voila! We’ll need the blessing of your photographer, but they’ll get the kudos for the images of course!

Thanks to Honey Bee Photography in Laramie for sending in this Native American-inspired bridal shoot…I love the drama and mystery of these images! The fog, the boats, the outfits…it just is so romantic and touching. Owner Faith Noel of Honey Bee worked with Poppy’s Flowers and Sweets: Special Occasion Cakes & Pastry, both of Laramie, to help create the look. When it comes to planning your signature ‘look’ for your wedding,  your wedding vendors can be an awesome help. As you’ll read below in the quote from Faith, a stylized theme and look is very popular. You can find inspiration from guides, websites and blogs (like ours!), Pinterest, etc. — you’ll begin to realize what your style is as you save images that you love, then look back through them. Share your inspirational items with your vendors, and they can help you as well to find your unique style.

Here’s what Honey Bee’s owner & photographer, Faith Noel, had to say about this shoot:  “Highly stylized weddings and engagements are a growing trend within the wedding industry. I have spent the last couple of months planning this Indie Native American stylized bridal shoot with the help of many amazing vendors in the area. The look we were going for was an epic romance.” (I think they hit the mark!)

Be sure to come visit our Laramie Bridal Expo: The Fall Edition to meet our amazing Laramie-area vendors! October 21, 1-4 PM at the UW HIlton Conference Center — FREE admission!

Have you seen bhp imaging’s work yet? If you haven’t, be sure to check them out — photographer Brian Harrington is a true artist.  Here’s Brian’s story — and be sure to check out the selection from his work below, visit his website & Facebook page…as well as his video on our website!

So to start at the beginning of Brian’s camera wielding journey…
He was one of those art kids in high school… the type that took every art class they could. “I was never much of an artist when it came the technical’s of drawing, painting, sculpting, etc… but my mind always worked that way,” Brian says. “There was an obvious block somewhere within me that was stopping these ideas from coming to fruition. I would go out and explore in the broken and abandoned buildings, like most photographers do when they start snapping away, in my free time. There was a lot of the artistic process involved in the image making at that point subconsciously… but nothing concrete or intentional.”

When his high school art teacher recommended Brian submit a few images to the Wyoming High School Art Symposium, Brian did well, winning a few ribbons. The next year, he won blue ribbons on almost every image submitted as well as one of six awarded scholarships in Wyoming. “I was hooked,” Brian says.

Fast forward to college…  Brian began with a career of photojournalism in mind.  “Something about the honesty of the moments you seek as a photojournalist intrigued me,” Brian says. “I think a lot of the love of moments is still prevalent in my images.”  Brian did well in school and won a few impressive awards, such as the June 2009 Student of the Month for the Student Photographic Society, a national subcategory of the Professional Photographers of America. He was also presented the Photography Student of the Year Award from his college. After an additional year of business school, Brian launched into work as a professional photographer.

“I spent a summer sitting on a raft in Jackson, Wyoming.  I left that experience with a passion to do nothing but smile and enjoy life (far from the stress of Wedding Photography),” Brian says. “Everything, in my opinion, that is worth knowing in life can be learned from a river. I like to think the wind that constantly beat me in the face floating down that river, and tangled my fly-line that summer, also blew me to Laramie…”

Brian fell in love with Laramie as soon as he pulled into town. “I had no idea this is where I would be starting the business that had been slowing forming in the back of my head, bhpimaging…. brian harrington photographic imaging,” Brian says.  “{The name is} simply because I think of the images as more than simple photographs… they are moments brushed with artistic expression and passion.”  Brian officially started his business July 1st, 2011, but has been shooting as a professional since 2009. On November 28th 2011, Brian became one of five Certified Professional Photographers in Wyoming.

For Brian, inspiration is found in a million different places. “I love looking at other photographers work,” Brian says. “To name a few… Richard Avedon’s stark portraits of normal people make me want to create more storytelling images in a simple and understandable way. Julius Shulman has the most beautiful eye for capturing graphic shapes with the surrounding environment…”  He adds, “I see graphically, so this work speaks volumes. Color work from the greats like Bobbi Lane and Jay Maisel also speak to me.”  Brian is also inspired by music and other art.
“I like to approach a wedding with all the aspects of my background present,” Brian says. “I am constantly watching for beautiful moments while also taking time to pose and light the perfect shots. It is not enough to just have beautiful moments or beautiful light and posing… sometimes as professionals we have to be able to deliver both.”

Brian not only enjoys creating artistic images, he enjoys getting to know his clients.  “I love meeting new couples,” Brian says. “They are always so obviously in love when I get to meet them that it is beautiful. They are so happy to be alive and be together. I like to work with their ideas and desires as well as my own background to come up with the perfect images and albums for their wedding story.”

For Brian, being a professional photographer is a dream come true.  “It is a beautiful life I live,” he says.

OH had I had things like this when we got married…(and I swore I’d never say that, but this applies 100%!)

Photofetti — Seriously, it’s just like it sounds.  Confetti made from your images.  Totally eeeek worthy.
