They were joined in marriage June 11, 2016 in The Lodge & Spa at 3 Forks Ranch of Savory, Wyoming, a luxurious & elegant destination that you have to see in these pictures to believe! Their day included an emotional reveal, a gorgeous outdoor ceremony surrounded by God’s handiwork, and a fun, elegant reception. Alex & Chelsea’s Lusk Wedding by the Creek

Thank you to Lacey Dale Photography of Lusk, Wyoming for sharing Chelsea & Alex’s day with us! A few details …

Chelsea wore a pleated, strapless, empire waist gown from David’s Bridal — with POCKETS!! SOO COOL! Her shoes were a pair of navy blue Converse Chuck Taylors. Earrings were something borrowed from one of her bridesmaids, and she also wore a bracelet from Alex’s grandmother who passed away. Her sash on her dress was handmade by Alex’s sister Kari Dickson. Alex wore a pair of grey Carhartt pants, a white shirt and pink tie. The location was north of Lusk, Wyoming, on Gravel Pit Road. Donna Ruffing, from Lusk owns a ranch and the couple got married on a creek bottom with a grassy meadow, sandstone wall background and surrounded by cottonwood trees. Alex used to live there, and still likes to go elk hunting on the ranch. Chelsea’s mother walked her down the aisle, with the service performed by Joel Richardson. The reception was held at the well-known Pizza Place in Lusk, owned & operated by Brad and Melissa Wagner — the couple had their first date there, and it’s where Alex proposed to Chelsea.

WYOMING ENGAGEMENT: Katie & Zach w/Pickrel Art & Photography

Meet Katie and Zach. She’s a student at Sheridan college (part time vet clinic employee, part time Starbucks Barista), he’s a ranch hand at the Padlock ranch. They met in Jackson Hole while working on a dude ranch in 2014. These really sweet & hip engagement photos were taken at Rapid Canyon Ranch outside of Sheridan at the base of the Big Horn mountains, and their wedding will also be at the ranch (I like the date pic!). Thanks to our super cool friend Becky Picrel of Pickrel Art & Photography of Gillete for sharing!

SHOP WYOMING: Fresh Flower Fantasy, Laramie

We REALLY appreciated the work of Fresh Flower Fantasy to not only sling through Valentine’s Day with sleepless nights, but to come to our Laramie Bridal Expo at its unexpected date of February 15. Not only that, but they brought bridal bouquets for the fashion show models, a lovely arch for our guests to pass through, and their biggest smile & bushiest tails! It was impressive! The thing that made me doubly able to say that is the fact that my parents own the shop – and when I told my mother back in December that we had to move the date, she didn’t blink an eye, she just merely said “Ok – we’ll make it happen.” I was thoroughly expecting a motherly lecture on the difficulties I was creating – but I was impressed with how the team came together to make it happen. They didn’t even fall asleep mid-expo, and the ladies got out there during our swing class at the expo and flipped — literally! Pretty cool.

Of course everyone thinks of flowers at Valentine’s Day & Mother’s Day and for weddings, but FFF has been working overtime coming up with creative and fun ideas for everyday celebrations. Candy bouquets to celebrate a job well done, a rough day or just a random Tuesday … wine bottle arrangements and cowboy boot arrangements … bouts made in a shotgun shell for weddings with a country flair …  And keep an eye on their marquee on East Grand Avenue in Laramie as they give you a chance to win a free rose if you see your first name posted!

COLOR INSPIRATION: Sage (without returning to 1999)

visit our website & find a WY vendor

Taking a look at a popular late 90’s/early 00’s color that can be beautiful…without feeling like a bad retro trip! That color is sage green — I was in two weddings where this was the predominant color at that time, and saw MANY weddings with this color come through the flower shop I worked at in college. It became one of the top wedding colors, and still is a beautiful choice – but how to make it seem classy and not a bad throw back to 13 years ago? The big thing about colors in the 90’s and early 00’s was the use of saturated color — one main color with the secondary color being more of a small accent. For example, sage green dresses, perfectly matched shoes, ribbons, tux elements, etc. Switch it up – pick another strong color that can come through in heavy doses, balancing out the sage green and making it feel like a team player rather than a sole performer. For example, a deep purple paired with sage gives a feeling of richness which suggests elegance. This can pair perfectly to give weight to an outdoor Wyoming summer wedding, *or* utilize it with doses of gold or silver for a dropdead gorgeous winter wedding palette! Another color is coral — this makes sage green become fun and flirty. Perfect with a cocktail length coral dress for an outdoor summer wedding, or a spring wedding to bring a brightness to the room. You can also pair sage green with silver for an instantly cool feel – would be beautiful with long-sleeved gowns, white Christmas lights or candlelight to bring back an element of warmth, and a modern design to your decor. Tres chic, and so versatile!

I’m a Better Homes & Gardens addict, and their paint feature on green this month touched on this. They advised that pairing sage green with a crisp white makes it feel preppy & beachy; pair it with an ivory (and perhaps even switch to a deeper hue of green) to lend depth and elegance and create the feeling of a Southern manor home. Think ivory roses with deep green leaves & stems… Lovely again for a winter wedding, or a beautiful candlelight event.

Below are some inspiration points we’ve scoured from here and there to inspire you. Don’t be afraid of ‘outdated’ colors – think of new ways to use them, and you’ll never be accused of pulling a Marty McFly move at your wedding!

I’m in LOVE with wedding signs! This hot wedding trend for 2013 is just too too cute. They don’t need more introduction than just that — they pretty well speak for themselves (cue drum set) — so I’m going to shut my yap and commence to drool over some lovelies…

Milliania Synasty Pearl & Silver Necklace —

We shared a list of fabulous Wyoming jewelers with you in a recent blog post (link here or to go ‘Inspiration’ to find “Jewels on Tuesday: Brown Diamonds”).  Be sure to visit with a local jeweler before you make that trip out of town to shop — there are so many talented and friendly entrepreneurs in Wyoming that are always happy to help make your dream come true!

There are a lot of websites you’ll come across when you do a Google search, but here are some links to check out:
